Amtrak and the State of Vermont are partners providing Amtrak Thruway bus service to Manchester and Bennington. Convenient morning and evening bus schedules offer connections to Amtrak trains at the Albany-Rensselaer station in New York.
The “Vermont Shires Connector” service is operated by VT Translines of Milton, Vt., under contract with Vermont’s Agency of Transportation. “Vermont residents and visitors will enjoy this affordable and convenient service,” said Barbara Donovan, the Public Transit Program Manager for the Vermont Agency of Transportation.
“Relax as you travel between New York City, the Hudson Valley, Western New York and Vermont’s beautiful and historic towns of Bennington and Manchester.”
“The buses and trains have coordinated connections for travelers’ peace of mind,” said Jay Green, Amtrak district manager of stations. “Our staff is here to help.”
Customers can purchase tickets using Amtrak eTicketing at a staffed station, or book online on Amtrak.com, or use one of the Amtrak mobile apps, or call 800-USA-RAIL and ask to speak with an Amtrak agent. A schedule is attached showing the arrival and departure times.
Amtrak Launches New Thruway Bus Connections from New York City and Philadelphia
New destinations available in the Lehigh Valley
WASHINGTON – Amtrak now provides expanded Thruway bus service between New York City and Philadelphia to destinations throughout the Lehigh Valley and southern Pennsylvania. Customers now have more convenient and affordable travel options from more than a dozen new locations including Kutztown, Allentown, Quakertown,
Bethlehem and to Philadelphia 30th Street Station.
Bieber Tourways, an intercity motor coach operator based in Pennsylvania, provides transportation throughout Pennsylvania and to New York City. Amtrak Thruway services make coordinated connections with trains and enable passengers to use other carriers to connect with the Amtrak national network from cities without rail stations.
