The College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) located in Chihuahua, Mexico had signed a MoU or memorandum of understanding five years back. This was done to set up a global learning partnership. From that time onward, the institutions have swapped over ideas and information via campus-to-campus interactions that keep on profiting the respective communities as represented by a Tourism Marketing class at the University.

This summer, Nathalie Desplas from Monterrey Tech had returned to Reno to impart third Tourism Marketing class to a large group of forty University students. A doctorate in economics, Desplas is simultaneously an internationally known tourism expert and skilled world traveler. Nathalie utilizes her expertise to educate students on various shades, trends and ways of marketing a city to a visitor. Teaching the millennials, between the age group of 18 to 24 has been the goal this year. Emphasis has been to teach across four genres: eateries and bars, festivals, music and the arts and casinos.

The Tourism Marketing students of Nathalie in return are utilizing her teachings to create new ideas to help the City of Reno in marketing itself to that target group, considering things which are crucial for the millennials like technology, sustainability and ethics.
