CEIR unveils Trade Show Economic Impact Calculator

DALLAS – The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announced the availability of its newest resource, the Trade Show Economic Impact Calculator. CEIR’s latest tool for exhibition organizers calculates the economic impact of their exhibition in the city in which the event is held. The information generated provides substantive information for use in communicating the value of the event. The calculator has been reviewed and endorsed by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO). The IAEE Major American Trade Show Organizer (MATSO) Council offered input during the final stages of development.
“CEIR’s Trade Show Economic Impact Calculator will help organizers further understand the impact of their shows and provide consistency across the exhibition industry in how we measure that impact,” said CEIR President and CEO Brian Casey, CEM. “More importantly, this tool offers the possibility of further correlating the value exhibitions have on their particular destinations.”
With the development of this important tool, CEIR is formulating a much needed standard that trade show organizers may utilize both individually and as a group of users to articulate the economic impact of their show(s) to a wide variety of audiences including destinations, government entities, federal legislators and internal boards, to name a few.
The calculator is comprised of four main areas:
  • General show information
  • Attendees
  • Exhibitors
  • Direct spend
The Trade Show Economic Impact Calculator will create a report for the organizer that breaks down and outlines the value generated by their exhibition. It is important to note that individual information provided will not be shared publicly.
