Southern Australia is struck by a 6.1 earthquake

According to Geoscience Australia, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake took place near Australia.

The earthquake was believed to be “potentially tsunamigenic,” initially, which means it could lead to a tsunami. However, that information is not valid anymore.

The quake is said to have a magnitude of 5.9, with a depth of 10 Km, according to The US Geological Survey (USGS).

It happened at 8:58am GMT, 1704.1km (1058.8 miles) off the coast of Queenstown, Australia.

Almost three weeks back, the southeast Australia was struck by its biggest earthquake ever in 30 years; with a magnitude of 5.5.

The mining town of Norseman, Western Australia has been apparently hit by 30 earthquakes in the last month. Norseman is situated at a distance of 720km (447 miles) from Perth.
