Flybe’s New Summer Route To Newquay Takes Off From Aberdeen

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, will start operating its new weekly summer Saturday flights between Aberdeen and Cornwall Airport Newquay tomorrow , giving travellers direct access to one of the UK’s top summer destinations.

Taking just two hours, the flight cuts travel time by nine hours compared to making the same journey by car – giving an extra 18 hours of holiday time on a return trip. With eight hours the equivalent to an average day’s annual leave in the UK, the saving represents over two days of work: no small gain for those who value their time off and want to make the most of it!

And with the shortest train journeys from Aberdeen to Newquay taking more than 14 hours, including up to four changes, those who fly would bank almost 24 extra hours of stress-free holiday time!

It represents another great option for passengers travelling from Aberdeen Airport, which is currently embarking on the first phase of a £20million terminal redevelopment programme.

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer, comments: “Our new route to Newquay from Aberdeen opens up a whole new part of the country to travellers who may previously have been put off by the long journey times. We have all experienced driving or taking the train at peak holiday times, often an extremely stressful experience, especially for families taking a well-earned break.

“This convenient new route confirms our customer promise to be the ‘Fastest way from A to Flybe’, faster than road or rail. We look forward to welcoming all our new passengers on board this summer.”

Carol Benzie, Managing Director at Aberdeen Airport, said: “Flybe has proven to be a very popular airline in Aberdeen Airport serving UK destinations such as: London City, Manchester, Jersey, Norwich and Birmingham. This expansion of flights to Newquay will be a welcome addition for business or leisure travel and we wish Flybe all the best with this new launch.”
