Over 450 luxury travel brands join the 6th edition of Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM

Taking place next week from 3 - 6 May, Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM will feature exhibitors from over 60 countries, representing 465 destinations, luxury hotels and brands from across the world. The definitive elite travel event will generate almost 19,000 mutually matched appointments to create business and networking opportunities for the global luxury travel industry.

Travelweek Sao Paulo is one of the 6 events in the ILTM - International Luxury Travel Market - portfolio, which introduce global luxury travel brands to a total of over 2700 agents representing high net worth individuals from across the world.  Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM by 2016 will host 544 buyers from Latin America and Brazil, 10% of whom are new to ILTM events.

Portugal: 
Portugal is among the most sought-after destinations by global luxury travellers, according to research conducted by Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM.  A total of 37 luxury Portuguese brands will take part in this year’s event – the largest delegation yet with good reason as over 600,000 Brazilian tourists visiting Portugal each year, the most visited of the European countries.

“The language is clearly a connecting factor for tourism between Portugal and Brazil, but what we want to show at Travelweek is Portugal’s contemporary side that perhaps is less well know to the Brazilians,” Bernardo Cardoso, Tourismo de Portugal’s Director, explains.

Botswana – Belmond Eagle Island Lodge: reopens after refurbishment:
The safari lodge on the Okavango Delta region has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The décor celebrates the adventurous spirit in twelve luxurious tents equipped with spacious beds overlooking nature, private swimming pools, indoor and outdoors showers, public areas with aquatic bars, fire pits and a library.  Boat, canoe and helicopter safaris are offered alongside traditional safaris.

Barcelona: multigenerational journeys at Mandarin Oriental
To meet consumer demand, the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona hosts families in comfort in both Grand and Family Suites. The multigenerational accommodation welcomes grandparents, parents and children: the Grand Suite has three rooms with king size beds and independent bathrooms – for up to six people. The Family Suite - filled with design and views overlooking the famous Passeig de Gracia avenue – also hosts up to four guests.

Pousadas de Portugal has 18 dog friendly properties:
With a portfolio filled with beautiful properties across Portugal, Pousadas de Portugal now offers 18 options for dog owners. Treated as family members, they stay in the rooms and can roam in the properties accompanied by their owners. In a partnership with Royal Canin, Pousadas de Portugal will offer the dogs a welcome pack, which includes a mat, a snack pack and bags.

Switzerland – Bar au Lac: the first hotel in Zurich with its own beehive
This spring, the 5* Swiss hotel Baur au Lac will reveal its first beehive in the property’s private park. Designed as a miniature of the hotel, it will shelter 80,000 Carniolan Honey Bees, a species known for the excellent honey they produce.  The honey is offered to guests at breakfast and sold as a souvenir.

Bordeaux: Le Pressoir d’Argent at the InterContinental Bordeaux 
Opened in September 2015, the restaurant Le Pressoir d’Argent, headed by chef Gordon Ramsay, has already been awarded a Michelin Star France 2016 for its creative dishes, influenced by the French region of Aquitaine.

Beverly Hills: renovations in several hotels in the region
The Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau recently released a report on renovation trends in the region which revealed a $2 million refurbishment of the Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills, the Crescent Hotel renewal of its lobby and lounge and also extensive renovations at the Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. The Peninsula Beverly Hills is reopening its first restaurant, The Belvedere and also, the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills will reopen in 2017.

Capri: gastronomic news at Tiberio Palace
Icon of elegance for its modern design, the Capri Tiberio hotel brings several gastronomic information in 2016, among them the Kosher experience with a menu that combines culinary tradition with the philosophy of kosher food. The new drink ‘Giada’ can be enjoyed at The Jacky Bar, one of the most sought after Capri nightlife spots.

Paris: Four Seasons Hotel George V
2016 is a triumphant year for the elegant Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, which continues to stand out with its award-winning chefs. Chef Christian Le Squer and Le Cinq restaurant were awarded a third Michelin Star, a true honor to the gastronomic inheritance of the hotel. Chef Marco Garfagnini continues to attract clients with his Mediterranean gastronomy at Le George and European summer chef David Bizet will open a new French restaurant, called L’Orangerie.

Bariloche: Reforestation programme at Llao Llao resort
Llao Llao, a traditional resort in Bariloche in Argentina’s Patagonia has recently introduced the “My Forest Llao Llao” programme to protect and reforest the native woods of the region. Guests are invited to participate by making a donation or planting trees.

Machu Picchu: explora Valle Sagrado set to open in July
The celebrated hotel chain explora will open its next property in Vallo Sagrado, Machu Picchu in July.  The new hotel - Pumacahua House - an ancient colonial house with a cornfield, restored by an explora team of archeologists and surrounded by mountains that once were the birthplace of the Inca Empire. This new explora offers over 20 experiential activities filled with the Andina culture. Pumacahua House will also open a spa with heated pool, baths and saunas.

Madrid: Hotel TOTEM set to open in June 2016
Contemporary luxury and elegance define TOTEM, a new hotel in Madrid set to open in June. From monochromatic marble details in the bathrooms to exceptional service, the property will carry a relaxed ambiance and is very private. New Zealand Tourism: enograstronomic tourism

Rome: Hotel de Russie refurbishes two of its most important suites
One of the most iconic addresses in Rome, Hotel de Russie, from Rocco Forte announces the renovation of two of its most important suites – Suite Popolo and Suite Picasso, alongisde other rooms and suites from different categories. The two main suites, designed by Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte’s Design Director, demonstrate a mixture of bright colors with eclectic elements.
