Rwandair partners with VISA to reward travellers

KIGALI, RWANDA - Frequent fliers with Rwanda's national carrier will begin receiving rewards for traveling with Rwandair.

The airline has introduced 'Dream-Miles'; a loyalty program that rewards passengers with miles accumulated using Rwandair as their carrier of choice.

"The Dream-miles cover a place in our destination and is also determined by the number of miles you have," Rwandair officials told KT Press adding that, "Every time you use our flight, the ticket you use is converted into miles."

RwandAir, the first to introduce the program in the region, will integrate Dream Miles with a reloadable Visa Prepaid Card.

The new card will be called the RwandAir Dream Miles Global Travel Wallet card, allowing members to accumulate miles whenever they shop at Visa retailers anywhere in the world.

Beneficiaries have been categorized into junior, emerald, silver, gold and diamond.

To be considered for the program, Rwandair says, award tickets should be requested at least five working days before the flight and remain valid for three months after they are issued. Reversing a redemption request will be allowed as long as the redemption has not been used.

Although travellers flying all fare classes are eligible for the program, Rwandair says the Economy and Business Class saver fares will however, only attract 50% of the applicable miles (V for U Class in Economy Class and Z Class in Business Class.)

The program also has different promotions such as upgrading from economy to business class, excess baggage, and free tickets.

Miles acquired expire every two years if not redeemed but can be renewed before the expiry date and would be valid for only 12 months after renewal.

Travellers can claim their dream miles via members' website or directly make a phone call to Dream Miles call center or by posting to dream miles management.

RwandAir recently passed the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit, and acquired IOSA certificate.

The airline, regarded as the fastest growing on the continent, has begun expanding its fleet, with the recent purchase of two passenger aircraft from Airbus A330-200 and A330-300. Rwanda now flies to an increasing number of destinations across Africa and Middle East. Plans are underway for more Asian and European destinations as well.
