Turkish Airlines Open to be held in Antalya on 13-16 November

Europe’s finest golfers and many of the world’s greatest are heading back to Turkey for the “Turkish Airlines Open” which will be held at Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Antalya, Belek on 13-16 November 2014.
US Open champion Martin Kaymer, former world No.1 Lee Westwood and 2013 FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai winner Henrik Stenson are among those taking part in the penultimate event of this year’s European Tour Race to Dubai.
"The Turkish Airlines Open is already one of the biggest and best events on the European Tour in such a short time," said Stenson, the current world No.5. "Everybody had a great time last year on and off the course and I'm sure it will be no different this time".
Defending champion Victor Dubuisson is determined to hang on to the crown that took him from relatively unknown to global star last year.
“I am really looking forward to returning to Turkey,” said Frenchman Dubuisson, who beat Tiger Woods and Justin Rose among others coming down the stretch.   “The Turkish Airlines Open is where it all started for me and I’m delighted to be able to return to Antalya and not only re-live those wonderful memories, but hopefully build some more.” he added.
The 2013 tournament was hailed as the best, first event ever on the European Tour by Chief Executive George O’Grady and the second edition of the approximately 80-man field event promises to be even bigger and better.
“Turkish Airlines were proud to deliver the greatest festival of golf ever seen in Turkey last year and are sure we are in for an equally exciting week this time,” said Ahmet Olmustur, the airline’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The tournament received a terrific amount of global publicity and we are aiming to make the second edition even more memorable. Having so many of the world’s best golfers already committed that it will be a great feast for all golf lovers.” he added.
"It is a proud moment for our country when so many of the world's best players elect to visit," added Ahmet Agaoglu, President of the Turkish Golf Federation. "Last year's tournament will take some beating for drama and excitement, but we are sure there will be plenty more this time. We hope everybody enjoys themselves, is enthralled by the golf and Antalya and leaves with the feeling that they want to return".
Almost 80 of the world’s best golfers will play for a prize fund of $7million in the penultimate leg of the European Tour’s Final Series.
It was a great honour for Turkey to be included in the initial Final Series last year – a four-tournament finale to the season concluding with the Race to Dubai – the event which determines the season-long order of merit.
The Turkish Airlines Open was deemed such a huge success that it is again the next to last event on the calendar and will engender even more worldwide publicity for the country and its growing popularity with golfers around the globe.
The top sixty golfers on the European Tour’s money list following the Turkish Airlines Open will qualify for the Race To Dubai finale in the United Arab Emirates.
