Jet2.com announces biggest ever flying programme

Jet2.com has raised its seat capacity to 250,000 next summer thanks to an additional aircraft and four new routes.
Summer 2015 will see the British low-cost airline introduce two new city break destinations, Prague and Rome; as well as two new popular tourist hot spots, Gran Canaria and Zante.

All flying from Belfast International Airport, Rome will become the only direct service available from Northern Ireland. Plus additional frequency will be added to its Malaga service.

In total, more than 70 flights a week will operate to 16 sun and city destinations, with a third aircraft being based at the airport to support the expansion.

CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Steve Heapy, commented: “Since our first flight took off [in 2004], we’ve not only increased capacity but we have also grown our destinations.

“These developments really demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing our passengers with unrivalled choice and flexibility when it comes to planning their next break.”

Jonathan Bell MLA, said: “The investment of an additional aircraft is great news for Northern Ireland as it not creates new jobs [an estimated 86], but it also enhances the region’s accessibility.”
