Penthouse by Harlan Goldstein opens in Hong Kong’s hottest new dining destination Soundwill Plaza II


Michelin-star chef, Harlan Goldstein (Harlan G), has opened his eagerly awaited fourth restaurant – Penthouse by Harlan Goldstein – located at Hong Kong’s hottest new dining destination, Soundwill Plaza II Midtown in Causeway Bay.

Opened in conjunction with business partners, World Wide Dining Group Ltd. Chairman and CEO, Mr Simon To, Chun Yuen and World Wide Dining Group Ltd. Group Director and Chief Operating Officer, Ms Mo Man Yu, together with a culinary team of the city’s most inspired young chefs personally trained by Harlan G, Penthouse launches a new chapter in Hong Kong culinary excellence.

As the fourth establishment in Harlan G’s growing culinary empire, Penthouse raises the bar on the Hong Kong dining experience in every way. From unsurpassed sweeping panoramic vistas across the city viewed from the stylish, urban-rustic, 6,800 sq. ft. interior and 5,000 sq. ft. rooftop, also perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or events catering up to 350 persons, to main drawcard, the extensive contemporary Western menu, Harlan G breaks new ground in the provision of truly memorable dining experiences.

“It is also the ideal venue for large gatherings such as corporate events and dinners, as well as personal celebrations including birthdays, anniversaries and even wedding receptions,” says Harlan G.

Of particular note is the Josper Grill at Penthouse. Specially sourced from Spain and heating up to 500 degrees, the grill produces mouthwatering dishes that highlight the unique flavours and textures of all meats, while retaining the natural juices. Options include the very best produce sourced from around the world, including 60-Day Wet-Aged US Brandt Beef (35 oz. Rib Eye on Bone, 12 oz. Rib Eye Steak, 6oz. Filet Mignon, and more), slow-cooked Spanish Duroc Pork Ribs, and flavoursome Organic Australian Lamb Chops.

Harlan G recommends starting a meal at Penthouse with a sampling of jet-fresh oysters, followed by Crudo and Carpaccio selections that include the palate-stimulating Spanish Farm-Raised Bluefin Tuna Tartare, and the flavoursome Beef Carpaccio Roll with Rocket, Stracchino Cheese and Truffle.

The wide range of tasty starters includes Harlan G’s Devilled Crab Cake, Mango and Salted Black Bean Salsa — succulent crab meat complemented by a light, refreshing salsa that is sure to satisfy, Italian Pork Head Testa Flatbread, “4” Cheese Truffle & Green Salsa, and Bouillabaisse Soup with Garlic Toast and Gruyere Cheese.

The Harlan G “The King of Pasta” selection focuses on handcrafted pasta dishes featuring the innovative chef’s signature bold flavour and ingredient combinations, such as the silky Italian Egg Pappardelle served with a Spanish Pork Ragout and a Herb Mascarpone or the signature Risotto – Italian Arborio Rice, Maine Lobster, Sukura Shrimps, Lobster Sauce, Basil and Bottaga in a dish that will definitely appeal to seafood connoisseurs.

Complementing the sumptuous culinary offerings at Penthouse is a wine list comprising more than 130 wines from France, Italy, USA, and Australia.  Harlan G has also personally designed a menu of signature cocktails to complement his favourite dishes

Relax upon arrival and soak up the atmosphere with a ‘Wall Street after 5pm’ cocktail comprising Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Cherry, Cinnamon, House Bitters and a hint of Chocolate, or savour a ‘Fifth Avenue Rush’, an invigorating taste sensation comprising G’Vine Floraison Gin, Elderflower, Kaffia Lime and Jasmine and Blossom Soda.

Dessert at Penthouse is definitely a grand affair as created every evening by renowned pastry Chef Leung Tung Shing. Featuring a 5-metre Grand Dessert Table, over 20 types of signature desserts, including a nitrogen display and an assortment of exquisite French and Italian cakes and pastries, the irresistible selection of sweet sensations is guaranteed to tempt, entice and seduce and is the perfect conclusion to the perfect meal.

Penthouse is also open for lunch and features two dining options – Light Lunch priced at HK$198 per person and 3-course Lunch prices at HK$248 per person.

Designed by Kinney Chan & Associates (KCA), the New York-style 6,800 sq. ft. space at Penthouse incorporates industrial loft elements, such as stunning chandelier made from frying pans hanging over the corridor, together with curated furnishings and bold colours and is an urban retreat that entices diners to stay.

Seating options include a large communal table, elevated leather booths and two playful and stylish private rooms overlooking the harbour, each seating 10 persons.

A refined blend of chill-out music with a spicy touch of urban grooves also plays an integral role in creating the desired ambience.
