Sheremetyevo has become the largest airport in Russia in terms of international passenger traffic in the first half a year


Sheremetyevo International Airport has announced the results of its operating activities for June and 6 months of 2013. The number of passengers received from the beginning of the year increased by 13.5% compared to the same period in 2012, reaching 13 million 359 thousand people.
Passenger traffic on international routes (IAL) in January — June 2013 increased by 12% to 8, 553,000 passengers, on domestic flights (DAL) — by 16.2% to 4, 837,000 air travellers.
The number of passengers handled in June 2013 increased by 14.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2 million 852 thousand. At the same time passenger traffic on IAL in June grew by 9.2% and amounted to 1 million 840 thousand people, on DAL — by 24.5% to 1 million 012 thousand.
The most popular overseas destinations in January-June 2013 have become Antalya, Paris, Hurghada and federal — St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Sochi.
The main growth of passenger traffic in January-June 2013 was provided by airlines “Aeroflot”, “Transaero” and Nord Wind.
Sheremetyevo Airport in January-June 2013 ensured performance of 115,912 airfield operations (VPO), which is 5.0% more than for the same period in 2012. Number of VPO in June grew by 7,7% to 21,952.
In addition, on July 1st, Sheremetyevo recorded a new historical peak on key performance indicators — daily passenger traffic totaled 111,870 people, and 810 airlfield operationes were performed.
Sheremetyevo International Airport has been recognized as Europe’s top airport of 2012 in terms of service quality based on the results of the Airport Service Quality research program conducted by ACI (Airports Council International)
Sheremetyevo International Airport is one of the largest Russian airports in terms of regular international flights. The route network of Sheremetyevo Airport encompasses more than 200 destinations. Sheremetyevo Airport services are utilized by the representatives of three major aviation alliances: SkyTeam (Air France, KLM, Delta, CSA Czech Airlines, Alitalia, China Southern Airlines, Korean Air and others); Star Alliance (SAS, Air China, LOT, Adria Airways and others); Oneworld (Finnair).

According to 2012 results, Sheremetyevo Airport passenger traffic amounted to 26 million 188 thousand people, which is 16.1% more than in 2011.
