Turkish
Culture and Tourism Ministry Istanbul Directorate announced the
number of foreign tourist arrivals for September 2012.
A
total of 940.156 tourists visited Istanbul in September 2012; an
increase of 9 per cent compare to September 2011. Since beginning of
2012, a total of 7.087.974 tourists visited which states 16.6 percent
increase compared to previous year.
German
tourists continue their leadership with 11.5% of all tourists
visiting Istanbul in first 9 months of 2012. Russians follow Germans
with 5.6%. Other nationals choosing Istanbul as a tourist destination
are American 5.3%, French 4.7%, British 4.6%, Iranian 4.6%, Italian
4.6%, Dutch 2.8%, Libyan 2.2%, Spanish 2.2%, Azerbaijani 2.1%,
Ukrainian 2.0%, Japanese 2.0%, Saudi Arabian 1.8%, other
nationalities 41.6%.
