“Air France has launched a transformation plan in which the A380 plays a major part. With its latest-generation aircraft, our aim is to offer all our customers comfort, serenity and excellence of service with a French touch, which is what makes Air France stand out all over the world”, underlined Alexandre de Juniac, Chairman and CEO of Air France.
A redesigned First class cabin
On board its seventh and eighth A380, Air France offers a First class cabin which has been redesigned in collaboration with the design agency Yellow Window, where the feeling of space is reflected in each detail, from the seat to the private changing area.
• New, cosier fixed-shell seats in a redesigned cabin
With 9 seats on the main deck, Air France’s First class cabin offers each passenger unrivalled comfort. Equipped with new, easy-touse seat controls, the First class seat enables passengers to find their ideal position. The seat has been designed to preserve each passenger’s individual space, thanks to the modular separation screen and the higher sides of the fixed-shell seat.
There is an incredible sense of space in the cabin: featuring simplified, soft, lightweight and sleek lines, the seats fit perfectly into the airy and spacious cabin.

Air France has also redesigned the cabin interior in shades of warm grey, with lighter, delicate colours, enhanced by different lighting moods. The fabric of the seat covers, similar to the upholstery, the high-quality leather and soft carpets contribute to a warm, cosy, mellow, high-class environment.
• Constant attention to detail
Each passenger is welcomed aboard and presented with an amenities kit with Lanvin beauty products, a range of cosmetics with elegant and subtle fragrances: hand cream, face cream, lip balm and a refreshing wipe.
At the front of the First class cabin, passengers have the use of a private changing cabin to change into their sleep suit for the night, or prepare for their arrival. In this area, benefiting from natural light entering through the window, two shelves, opposite a dressing table, offer a wide range of Lanvin cosmetics, all of which contribute to the well-being of passengers during and after the flight.
• Exclusive areas
There is a bar with a buffet, to have a drink, something to eat, relax or converse without disturbing the calm of the cabin. Magazines are also available. Only First class passengers are allowed to use the wide 14-step staircase during the flight to access the art and culture Gallery. This area presents exhibitions in partnership with the world’s major art institutions, on video on three 38-cm screens.
In Business class, a new “full-sleep” seat
Air France’s Business cabin is situated on the upper deck of the A380, providing a calm atmosphere for passengers, ideal for working or relaxing. This cabin is fitted with 6 seats across – two on each side of the cabin and two in the centre. Each passenger sitting in a window seat benefits from additional side storage compartments for their personal belongings.
The A380’s spacious cabin enables Air France to offer a longer and wider “full-sleep” seat. Air France has worked with ergonomists and customers to provide even more comfort whilst preserving total dimensions (over 2 metres long and 61 cm wide) making it one of the largest seat beds on the market. The seat controls are now easier to use.
This new seat has been praised by over 90% of Air France customers who appreciate the quality of sleep it provides during the flight, its horizontal position and the leg room. The ease of use, multiple relaxation positions and new storage areas have also won passengers over.
Premium Economy: space and comfort
Premium Economy offers enhanced comfort thanks to a private cabin situated between the Business and Voyageur cabins on the upper deck and which offers 40% additional space compared with Voyageur (Economy) class.
Air France is the first European airline to offer a reclining seat inside a fixed shell in an intermediate cabin.
Inside the fixed shell, the seat reclines to 123°, allowing passengers to relax comfortably with their legs extended. The seat is also equipped with a largest whose height can be adjusted, an adjustable footrest and a headrest that can be raised, with moveable wings.
The roomy seat is 19 inches (48 cm) wide, with 10-cm wide leather armrests and a 10.4 inch (26 cm) wide video screen.
Practically, each seat features:
• An electric socket for a laptop,
• A wide tray that can easily accommodate a laptop along with papers and a glass, all comfortably lit by an individual directional reading light,
• A cocktail tray prolonging the armrest,
• A noise-reducing headset for optimum enjoyment of the exclusive Air France audio and video programmes.
In terms of comfort, customers benefit from business class amenities such as the toiletries kit, the feather pillow and the pure wool blanket. The in-flight meal service is the same as in Economy.
Economy: additional comfort on both decks
On the A380, the Economy cabin is situated on both the main and upper decks and boasts exclusive new features.
The seat is the widest in the Air France fleet, with armrests which are 30% wider, providing each passenger with more independence.
They also enjoy more space, as Air France is the first airline to integrate the video controls into the seat, instead of having them in front of the passenger’s legs.
Each seat has a 8.4-inch (21-cm) individual video screen, providing unrivalled quality of viewing and a conveniently situated headphone socket. Passengers can also recharge their laptop batteries in sockets located around the cabin.
• Bars on both the main and upper deck
Three, modern, spacious bars, two on the main deck and one on the upper deck, offer refreshments throughout the flight and the opportunity for passengers to meet and relax. This enables each passenger to take the time to really enjoy their flight.
A new entertainment guide and even more films
The Video On demand (VOD) entertainment system offers approximately 600 hours of viewing, including about a hundred feature films, some of which are translated in up to nine languages, and a juke-box containing 300 CDs with some 3,000 pieces of music. Starting this summer, the World Cinema selection will be significantly extended.
The Air France A380’s in-flight entertainment system is completely new, with easier navigation enabling passengers to access programmes in just a few clicks. Customers can choose between films – either by category or by alphabetical order -, select those which are dubbed or subtitled in a particular language or follow the aircraft’s flight path in real time, in a second window.
To help passengers choose from the selection of films, documentaries and TV series on offer, as well as from the games content, CDs and radio playlists, Air France has introduced a new, more legible and dynamic entertainment guide, highlighting featured programmes every month along with expert reviews and comments.
• The latest technologies at the service of entertainment and comfort
. Live images outside the aircraft thanks to three external cameras located at the front, below and at the rear of the aircraft whose images are transmitted live throughout the flight.
. Moodlighting, different lighting ambiances designed to cross time zones without feeling tired.
